Old timers back in action

Hazlin Pillay

THE uMhlathuze Districts Darts Doubles League has kicked off.
It seems like Macs Fish & Chips 2 are back in ruthless form.
Winning their sets 6-0 and 6-4, the consistent pair of Ronnie McEwan and Michael Harmse took the lead against their own Macs 3 side for point aggregates.
Old timers George Naicker, Ronnie Govender and George Muthusamy are back into darts, bringing along a young player Nad Murugas (known for his pool skills) who’s consistency is to be reckoned with.
Y-Junction 2 (Ronnie Govender and George Muthusamy) went down in the doubles against Macs 2 by two straight sets however, Ronnie Govender put a stop to Macs’ point aggregate after taking out both McEwan and Harmse in the singles.
Dot Marketing seem to be gaining ground with their newcomer Anton Deyzel.
The duo, Dez Boheim and Anton, took the lead in their first leg against Mondi 1’s Hazlin Pillay and Manna Peeriyah.
They are in need of some serious practice after being smashed 5-1 in their second match against Macs 1’s Tom Jooste and Okert Harmse.
The highlight of the night was the drawn singles match featuring McEwan and George Naicker of Y-Junction 1 in a straight start 501 match.
Both players played consistent darts but old timer Naicker emphasised the first rule in darts ‘trebles for show, doubles for dough’, shutting the door with a third dart close on double 10.

Upcoming
Next week’s games kick-off promptly at 6.45pm.
