The Bluff Eco-park has earned its reputation as Durban’s premier environmental destination for a host of reasons, which include beautiful open parklands fringed by lush sub-tropical flora, wildlife including 120 species of birdlife, duiker, banded mongoose and other small mammals, conference and function facilities, a swimming pool, play park, picnic site, restaurant and bar, a market place for Saturday Green Stalls, and a lifestyle centre including nursery, bistro and upper deck.
These Log Cabins offers self-catering accommodation in a dormitory, cabins and camping and caravan sites. The first alternative building, The Eco Dorm, is an enchanting piece of green architecture, originally conceived as a rough and ready facility for overnight youth groups. It has the subtle radiance of a forgotten bush temple in a rainforest, and once inside, it offers a wonderfully warm and earth-friendly embrace, which belies the crude recycled waste it was made from. Amongst other materials, this includes old telephone poles and 30,000 tyres of the 100,000 recycled tyres in the park.
The cabins are designed to let you experience the outdoors without having to worry what bugs are creeping into your sleeping bag. The units allow you to live outside and experience the outdoors, but adds the comfort and peace of mind of sleeping in a safe bed. The spacious campsites are situated under the canopy of the subtropical dune forest, and the ablution facilities are close by and easily accessible. The campsites also have electrical points and barbecue facilities for relaxed entertaining.
