Alte Kalköfen Lodge is situated in the small historical town of Keetmanshoop in the southern part of Namibia. The lodge is set in a beautiful natural African garden where vast open spaces effortlessly combine with the rocky dessert area.
The lodge itself offers 10 bungalows as well as two rooms in the farm house, all overlooking large camel thorn trees growing in the river bed. The lodge features its own restaurant where breakfast is served daily. The restaurant is also open to guests for light lunches and home-cooked evening meals.
The area is historical, with many museums, and the lodge itself is a testimony to this. The name Alte Kalköfen, is derived from two old lime ovens situated on the farms Simplon and Sandverhaar. Both ovens were built in the early 1900s with the purpose to produce lime that was used for construction and agricultural purposes.
